Gleanr Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy details the policies that CrowdTrust Inc. ("CrowdTrust") implements on all of our websites governing the use of all personally identifiable, valuable, or meaningful information that we manage in the provision of service to individuals who have accepted our Terms of Service (our "Clients").

CrowdTrust’s gleanr.com application ("Gleanr") provides Clients access to personalized information tools and services (collectively, the Client “Account”) which enable Clients to capture, store, organize and share digital information that they compose or encounter on the Internet, enhanced by further information that CrowdTrust may create or collect to make the original information more useful and valuable to the Clients (collectively an information package is a “Glean”). The purpose is to enable Clients to aggregate and channel their Gleans to generate value for themselves and their networks (Client "Networks").

Core Service Principles

CrowdTrust Clients entrust their Gleans on Gleanr based on three core service principles:

1. Clients own their Gleans. Every Glean consists of the information stored along with any information CrowdTrust creates or collects to make it more useful. CrowdTrust will make no use of any part of any Glean without Client consent. When a Glean is deleted, or an Account closed, any information that has not been explicitly shared by the Client will be destroyed forever.

2. Clients control their Gleans. CrowdTrust Clients have complete control over creating and deleting Gleans, and sharing them with their Networks. For example, a Client may keep some Gleans totally private, and may share, collect, publish, and syndicate other Gleans with individual Networks as they wish, including what profile, contact, and personal information each Network can view about them.

3. Clients deserve value. CrowdTrust will keep Client Gleans secure and available, and will respect Client privacy strictly as they define it. CrowdTrust will strive constantly to make Client Gleans work effectively in all the ways that generate value for them. 

CrowdTrust will not attempt to own or exploit Client Gleans or Networks in any way.

CrowdTrust’s success depends on maximizing the value of Client Gleans to them.

Core Usage Principles

CrowdTrust Clients access Gleanr services according to three core usage principles:

1. Clients will do nothing illegal. Application of CrowdTrust services for inappropriate or illegal purposes is strictly prohibited. CrowdTrust will actively support justice authorities in this regard.

2. Clients will respect information. CrowdTrust Clients will respect the privacy and copyright provisions of other Client information and of information producers in general. Clients will not misrepresent themselves or deliberately generate misinformation.

3. Clients will respect the crowd. CrowdTrust Clients will not act in any way that prevents others from using these services and generating value for themselves.

Safe Use of Gleanr

CrowdTrust strives to enable individuals to network safely with others. Our values of ownership and control aim to foster individual autonomy together with safety, security and privacy. We will be vigilant in maintaining these principles for our clients, and in identifying and policing inappropriate content, behaviours or people in our systems.

Only persons more than 13 years old are permitted to access Gleanr, and parents of children 13 years and older should consider monitoring their child’s use of Gleanr. Despite our best efforts, CrowdTrust cannot guarantee that our service is free of offensive, illegal, or inappropriate content, or that our Clients will not encounter the inappropriate or illegal behaviours of other Clients. Please contact support@gleanr.com whenever you discover questionable content or behaviours and we will do our best to acknowledge your concern and deal appropriately with the matter within 24 hours. We also recommend that Clients under the age of 18 speak with parents or responsibly adults when they encounter any content, behaviours, or individuals that make them uncomfortable.

CrowdTrust reminds our Clients that while misrepresentation is a violation of our Terms of Use, they should always be cautious about sharing information and otherwise connecting with people they do not know well in the real world. Specifically, our Clients should adopt the following simple safety rules:

1. Never share your Gleanr password with anyone.
2. Be very careful when sharing personally identifiable information such as your address and phone number.

The Information in Your Gleanr Account

CrowdTrust does not collect or keep any information for you or about you without your explicit consent, and you can modify this consent and the information already stored at any time. The purpose of your CrowdTrust Account is to help you manage whatever information is most valuable to you and your Networks. CrowdTrust’s objective is to help you capture that information, store it securely, organize it effectively, and channel it in whatever ways create the most value. CrowdTrust treats all of such information in the same way: they are Gleans that you own and control absolutely. More specifically, we will separately define seven (7) types of Glean information below:

1. Created Information
2. Captured Information
3. Contextual Information
4. Sharing Information
5. Profile Information
6. Relationship Information
7. Browsing Information

A. Created Information:

CrowdTrust enables you to create Gleans with original content. You may want to remember a great idea, outline a plan, compose a shopping list, store a password, write a letter, or draft a blog post. Every Glean you create is stored securely in your Account and encoded for instant retrieval, application and sharing. There may be social and legal implications if you create or share your Gleans inappropriately, so act with consideration. Your full responsibility as a CrowdTrust Account holder is detailed in our Terms of Service.

B. Captured Information:

Another kind of Glean is anything important that you encounter and would like a permanent copy of. It may be something somebody says, part of a website you browse, an email you read, a place you visit, a person you meet, a photograph you took, a document you trust, etc, etc. Important things pop up all the time in your busy life. Gleanr makes it very easy – just one click! – to capture such Gleans securely, share them if you wish, and continue with whatever you were doing. There may be social and legal implications involving any information you capture and share inappropriately, so act with consideration. Your full responsibility as a CrowdTrust Account holder is detailed in our Terms of Service.

C. Contextual Information:

When you create or capture information in a new Glean, it is often useful for you to add contextual information such as Tags or a Summary to identify its specific meaning to you. CrowdTrust also automatically enhances each new Glean with further information about it, such as its type, the date, the location, what it is about, etc. This helps us organize your Gleans for you and make them easier to find and use as you wish. It also makes new connections between your Gleans that you might not think of, increasing the concentrated intelligence and value of your Glean inventory. All such context becomes part of your Glean, and also your ownership and control.

D. Sharing Information:

When you create a Glean you may wish to keep it totally private (only you can see it), or to share it with specific friends, colleagues, groups, or the whole world. Gleanr offers a number of easy ways for you to share protect and share each Glean, and your sharing decision becomes an additional context of that Glean. You can change the shared/private status of a Glean whenever you wish, later if you wish, but once you share a Glean with anybody for any reason CrowdTrust can no longer guarantee that copies and versions aren’t in circulation. Information sharing is a fundamental part of how the Web works, and CrowdTrust recommends appropriate caution and consideration whenever you decide to share any of your Gleans.

E. Profile Information:

When you open a CrowdTrust Account you can supply as much or little personal information about yourself as you wish, keeping in mind that any form of misrepresentation is strictly forbidden in our Terms of Service. You can also share different parts of your complete profile with the different people and groups you interact with. Please remember that while all the information in your CrowdTrust account can be considered “personal” in some way, you should be very cautious before sharing any identifiable information such as your email, address and phone number.

F. Relationship Information:

When you share information with individuals or groups, or capture information from them, this is your Network within CrowdTrust and these relationships are stored as part of your Glean and interaction inventory.

G. Browsing Information:

Upon entering Gleanr we collect your browser type and IP address. This information is also gathered for all CrowdTrust visitors. In addition, we store certain information from your browser using "cookies." A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. These cookies terminate once the user closes the browser. Upon your request, we use a persistent cookie that stores your login ID (but not your password) to make it easier for you to login when you come back to Gleanr.

Information Security

Be aware that you store information on Gleanr at your own risk. We strive to provide the best security measures possible, especially when you wish your information to be private, but no such measures are impenetrable. We also cannot control what happens after you choose to share your information with others. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that unauthorized individuals will not view your information. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures implemented by CrowdTrust. When using Gleanr you understand and acknowledge that versions or copies of information you have shared may remain viewable even after you delete the original copy. Please report any abuse of information or violations of the CrowdTrust Terms of Service to support@gleanr.com.

Third Party Access

CrowdTrust does not provide your information to third parties without your permission. We share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is 1) reasonably necessary to offer the service, 2) legally required, or 3) permitted by you.

Links

Gleanr may contain links to other websites where we cannot be responsible for privacy measures. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by CrowdTrust. CrowdTrust similarly cannot be responsible for the cookies, links, etc, of third party advertisers appearing on our site.

Terms of Service, Notices and Revisions

Your use of Gleanr, and any disputes arising from it, is subject to this Privacy Policy as well as our Terms of Service and all of its dispute resolution provisions including arbitration, limitation on damages and choice of law. We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service at any time. Non-material changes and clarifications will take effect immediately, and material changes will take effect within 30 days of their posting on this site. If we make changes, we will post them and will indicate herein the Policy's new revision date. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by email, or through notice on our home page. We encourage you to refer to this policy on an ongoing basis so that you understand our current privacy policy. Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Policy applies to all information that we have about you and your account.
